Beaches

hondartzak

Orio is a priviledged place. It is situated in a wonderful place, where the see, the river and the mountains join together; and at the same time is green and blue, completely natural. The see breeze keeps clean all the corners of the village, and the surrounding mountains give a special air to the area. The two beaches of the village are a clear example of this natural richness: Antilla is the main beach and Oribazar is the smaller one.

The beach of Orio was reformed in 1997 and since then, both the beach and the surroundings have considerably changed.

The calm is the main feature that offers this beach. Even the most crowded days (Sundays in August), there is always place on the beach; not to mention working days when you enjoy the highest tranquility.
After the reform, the beach became bigger, it has a surface of more than 3.500 m2 where people can lie down to sunbathe. By the beach there is a park and a playground for the children, and we cannot forget to mention the long and beautiful walks we can do in the surroundings. There are also bars and restaurants to eat and drink during and after an intense day of sun, beach and walks. Those are some of the services the beach offers to its visitors:

  • Free toilets and showers
  • Playground for children
  • Gardens
  • First aid
  • Bars and restaurants
  • Walks
  • Fishing

Oribazar beach is smaller, but also quieter. There are no so many possibilities but, as it is located on the other bank of the river, it is usually deserted and only few people go there. It is the perfect place to go with the car to the very edge of the beach and take all the place we want.
