Historical Centre

The historical town centre of Orio, "Goiko Kale" dates from the XIII century. Starting from the Saint Nicholas church it goes up nearly to the Saint Martin chapel.

The old streets ascend in a labyrinth of steep steps, clinging to the rock. Well worked sandstone coats-of-arms, lively colourful balconies, and cobbled streets .... All give it a medieval flavour. The historical centre of Orio is part of a very valuable urban whole, which preserves almost undamaged the medieval layout of its centre, as well as a great number of houses of different periods.
